Charlotte, Owen, and Daniel,
Hope life is treating you well wherever you are, whenever you are reading this. I made this website lettersfromdaddy.com when I was 40 years old. I thought it would be a good idea to create this site so that I can write to you and you can read it when you want to, or need to.
There are a number of reasons that I wanted to do this:
- I’d like to share memories as you grew up and be able to describe in more detail when it was still fresh in my head. Rather than wait until it became hazy or I forgot it altogether, I would prefer to be able to tell you about things when they happened. I cherish these memories and would love to keep these memories fresh in my head. I’ll also include these pictures and videos so you can see them as well.
- Better organize my photos and videos that I would like to share. I have so many photos and videos on my hard drive and backup files that I can’t really pull up anything that I want to without spending a lot of time looking for them. Or, I would just have to browse through countless photos or videos to find what I’m looking for.
- If something were to happen to me at some point or maybe if I pass away later on in life, I would like for you to have a place to read the things that I’d always want to share with you. I also have things that I’d really like you to know or understand, but maybe you just aren’t at that age yet to fully understand. So I’d have something in place to allow you to read some of these things once you’ve reached a certain age.
Some of these letters are written to all three of you kids, but some may pertain only to one or two of you. I’ve tagged you each: Charlotte Lam, Owen Lam, or Daniel Lam so that you can read those that would be addressed to you. I want to tell all of you different things, so I think this is the best way to do it.
